Trump backs proposed sanctions on Russia's trade partners

WASHINGTON. Nov 17 (Interfax) - U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed the readiness to support a Congress bill imposing sanctions on countries doing business with Russia.

"Well I hear they're doing that, and that's okay with me," Trump told the press.

"They're passing legislation [...], putting in legislation that is very tough, sanctioning et cetera, on any country doing business with Russia," Trump said.

"We may add Iran to that," he said without going into detail.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (Republican) said in October he was ready to put to vote a bill on anti-Russian sanctions, which Senator Lindsey Graham had been promoted for a long. He declined to set any deadlines.

If adopted, the bill will allow Trump imposing tariffs of up to 500% on imports from countries buying Russian energy and denying active support for Ukraine.
