Tokayev: No external challenges could shake trusting Kazakh-Russian relations

MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has declared the inviolability of friendly and trusting relations between his country and Russia, describing Russia as a "God-given neighbor."

"The negotiations that took place have once again shown that no external challenges could ruin, or even shake, the monolithic foundation of mutual trust between Russia and Kazakhstan," Tokayev said at a reception given in his honor by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.

"Kazakhstan, as a close ally and reliable friend, is sincerely interested in a stable and prosperous Russia," Tokayev said.

Tokayev said that cooperation between Moscow and Astana sets "a perfect example of interstate relations."

"Our shared history proves the power of unity better than any words. During hard years, we always stood by each other, supported each other, and won a great victory together," Tokayev said, noting he hopes future generations of the two countries' citizens "will preserve and enhance the traditions of friendship and good neighborliness, and pass them on to their children and grandchildren."

Recalling the ancient Kazakh saying, "God-given neighbor," Tokayev said that Russia is such a neighbor for Kazakhstan.

Tokayev raised a toast to the "unbreakable eternal friendship and unity" of Kazakhstan and Russia, to the Russian president.
