Mechel's Southern Kuzbass changes general director for fourth time in year
KEMEROVO. Nov 12 (Interfax) - The board of directors of Mechel Group's PJSC Southern Kuzbass Coal Company has terminated the authority of the company's previous general director and appointed a new one for a term of one year, according to materials from Southern Kuzbass.
Names were not disclosed in the materials.
The company is again headed by Alexei Tikhonsky, Southern Kuzbass told Interfax. As reported, Tikhonsky already held the post of general director from the end of June to the beginning of August this year. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Sergei Rashchupkin was appointed to this position on August 5.
As reported, Tikhonsky replaced Alexei Lyapin as general director in June. Lyapin "temporarily held this position and will continue to work as director of the economics and finance department," Southern Kuzbass said.
Lyapin was appointed general director on May 15; prior to this, Southern Kuzbass was under the management of Mechel-Mining Management Company LLC.
At the same time, parallel to the management company, Southern Kuzbass had a managing director. From August 2021 this post was held by Andrei Podsmazhenko, and Igor Ritikov before him from 2018.
It was also reported that Tikhonsky in 2024-2025 held the position of director of the production department at Southern Kuzbass, and other managerial positions in 2022-2024.
In 2015-2016 Tikhonsky was the director of Energiya-NK LLC (part of MelTEK LLC, which was previously associated with Uzhuralzoloto Group ). In 2016-2019, he held managerial positions at MelTEK.
In 2012-2014, Tikhonsky headed the Chernigovets open-pit mine (the flagship enterprise of SDS-Ugol). In 2008-2012, he led the Kiselevsky open-pit mine (first part of SDS-Ugol, purchased by MelTEK in 2017).
In 2019-2021, Tikhonsky was the general director of Tailepsky Open-Pit Mine LLC.
PJSC Southern Kuzbass comprises three mines, three open-pit mines, four processing plants and a number of auxiliary enterprises; all assets are located in the Kemerovo region.
