Russian Industry and Trade Ministry hopes to approve REM development roadmap by Dec
MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - The Russian Industry and Trade Ministry has prepared a roadmap for the development of the Russian rare earth metals (REM) industry and hopes to have the document approved by December, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Mikhail Yurin told journalists.
"We have an instruction from the President to put together a plan of measures. This plan has been put together by the Industry and Trade Ministry. It has been sent to the ministries concerned and to companies to discuss with the industry. And we plan to sign it by December," he said.
The president gave the government the instruction to develop the REM development roadmap at the Eastern Economic Forum, with December 1, 2025 as the deadline.
"It is essential that we conduct regular assessments of these valuable components across the whole chain, including at the stage of processing and export in the form of concentrates. Aside from that, we must use advanced technologies in the beneficiation of rare and rare earth metal ores and in their processing. And, of course, boost demand for them at new production facilities in Russia," Vladimir Putin said in his speech at a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum, describing development objectives for the REM industry.
