Senior manager at Yakutugol becomes head of Korshunovsky MPP
IRKUTSK. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Mechel Group has appointed a new general director of the Korshunovsky Mining and Processing Plant (MPP) (Irkutsk region), the company said.
As of November 10, 2025, the position of general director at PJSC Korshunovsky MPP is held by Alexei Ivanov, who previously headed the operational management department of JSC Yakutugol Holding Company. Ivanov replaced Yury Martemyanov, who headed the MPP from the introduction of this position in July this year.
According to Mechel's materials, from 1997 to 2025 Ivanov advanced from a section chief at the Neryungrinsky open-pit mine branch of JSC Yakutugol Holding Company to the director of Yakutugol's operational management department.
As reported, Yakutugol suspended operations at its processing plant in May following a fire. The former general director of Mechel, Oleg Korzhov, later told journalists that Mechel planned to launch the plant in October 2025. There is currently no information about the launch of the plant's operations.
Korshunovsky MPP is the only mining and processing enterprise in Eastern Siberia with its own resource base. The mining assets include two iron ore quarries, namely Korshunovsky at around 400 meters deep and a bowl size of 2.2 km by 2.5 km; and Rudnogorsky. Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, also part of Mechel, is the main consumer of concentrate.
