Russia delivers humanitarian aid to Vietnam for typhoon victims - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry delivered humanitarian aid to Vietnam's Hanoi on Thursday for residents affected by typhoons in the country's central part, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website on Saturday.
"On October 30, a Russian Emergency Situations Ministry special flight delivered aid to Hanoi, which is intended for Vietnamese residents affected by typhoons that hit the country's central part," the statement said.
"Thirty tonnes of cargo, including tents, food, rescue boats and bedding, have been handed over to the Vietnamese side," it said. Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko attended a ceremony of handing over humanitarian aid, it said.
The operation was carried out on Russian President Vladimir Putin's instructions and on behalf of the Russian government, the ministry said.
