Segezha enters Mexican market after concluding first contract for supplying plywood

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The forest industry holding Segezha Group will begin supplying its products to Mexico, and the first contract for supplying plywood was concluded by the holding at the Mexican exhibition for the construction and furniture industry, Expo CIHAC, the company's press service said.

The company did not specify the amounts stipulated in the contract, and it has no prior presence in the Mexican market. "The shipment includes a wide range of plywood of various grades and formats. Interest in the holding's products was shown by several companies from different sectors of the Mexican economy straight away," the press service said.

"Mexico represents one of the key countries in Latin America, a dynamically developing region with growing construction and furniture markets. We saw great interest in our birch plywood from local specialists," the press service quoted Segezha's vice president for commercial activities Dmitry Beresnev as saying.

The dispatch of a trial shipment is the first step aimed at developing a presence in the promising Latin American market, Beresnev said. The company expects that further supplies of forest industry products to the region will be supported by state subsidies to cover part of the costs of logistics operators, including FESCO or Transcontainer , he said.
