AGD Diamonds mines 340 carat diamond at Grib deposit in Russia's Arkhangelsk region
ARKHANGELSK. Oct 13 (Interfax) - A rare, high-quality diamond weighing 340 carats has been mined at the V. Grib deposit in the Arkhangelsk Region, regional Governor Alexander Tsybulsky said.
"This is the biggest ever found during the commercial development of the deposit where AGD Diamonds operates, and one of the five largest diamonds recovered in modern Russia," he said on Telegram.
Tsybulsky said the diamond was not only impressive in size, but also its quality and was of high value on the market. "Such crystals make up 2% of all natural diamonds," he said.
AGD Diamonds develops the V. Grib deposit in the Arkhangelsk region's Mezen district. Severalmaz part of Alrosa , develops the M.V. Lomonosov deposit in the Arkhangelsk region's Primorsk district.
The region produced an estimated 8.2 million carats of diamonds in 2024, its Natural Resources and Forestry Ministry has said.
