Putin-Trump agreements working although some might not like them - Kremlin aide

DUSHANBE. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Many do not like the agreements reached by the Russian and U.S. presidents in Anchorage but they are working, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

"Of course, not everyone likes the understandings and agreements reached in Anchorage. For instance, the Europeans and the Ukrainian regime do not like them. I mean they are disliked by those who do not want a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis," Ushakov said in an interview with Channel One.

Although many do not like the agreements, that does not mean they are not working, he said.

"For instance, we are and will stay in contact with the U.S. partners based on those agreements and understandings. So, any statements that 'the impulse given in Anchorage is running out or has been exhausted' are completely wrong statements," Ushakov said.

"We keep working with the Americans based on the agreements reached by the presidents in Anchorage," he said.

Members of the Russian and U.S. presidential administrations are in constant contact based on the agreements reached before and during the Alaska summit, the presidential aide said.

"Representatives of the administrations of the Russian president and President Trump are in constant contact. These contacts are based on the agreements, the understandings formulated shortly before and during the meeting in Alaska," Ushakov told Channel One.

"We continue working with the Americans based on what was agreed by the presidents in Anchorage," he said.

During the meeting, the two presidents agreed on rather significant elements that could make up the foundation of peaceful settlement in Ukraine, Ushakov said.
