Central Bank of Russia's deputy governor urges no rush to conclusions about sustained weakening of ruble

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - A trend towards a sustained weakening of the ruble exchange rate is not being observed; it is fluctuating in the lower part of the range of the last two years, Central Bank of Russia Deputy Governor Alexei Zabotkin said.

"The fluctuations, including today's, are occurring within the range that has been observed since approximately mid-May. This range, roughly speaking, is a bit below 80 and up to 84. If we are talking about the ruble-dollar pair, this is in the lower part of the range where the exchange rate has been for the last two years. Therefore, I would definitely not rush to talk about any change in trend, any sustained weakening of the exchange rate right now," Zabotkin said during a broadcast on RBC.
