CIS prime ministers approve Commonwealth's economic development strategy until 2030

MINSK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The heads of government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries have approved an action plan for implementing the second stage of the Commonwealth's economic development strategy for the period until 2030, the CIS Executive Committee said on Monday.

"The Council of the CIS Heads of Government has adopted an action plan for implementing the second stage of the CIS economic development strategy for the period until 2030. The second stage covers 2026-2030," the committee said.

The document is aimed at further creating conditions for the sustainable growth of the economies of the CIS member states and improving the population's welfare, it said.

"The action plan for implementing the second stage of the strategy contains 26 sections, covering such areas of cooperation as mutual trade in goods and services, industry, the fuel and energy sector, transport, communications and informatization, the agricultural sector, monetary and financial policy and the labor market," the Executive Committee's press service said.

The plan provides for the development and implementation of joint measures and specific projects to maintain and expand mutually beneficial production cooperation ties between enterprises and technologically related industries, support investment and scientific cooperation, ensure the digitalization of national economies, intensify cooperation in innovation, develop freight transportation including transit across the state borders of CIS member states, increase mutual trade in goods and services, and ensure the effective operation of national payment systems.

"A significant place in the plan is given to ensuring a favorable business climate in the CIS member states, building up scientific potential, and cooperation in the fields of healthcare and education," the executive committee said.
