Polish interior minister signs order to open border with Belarus

MINSK. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski has signed an order to open the border with Belarus, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Traffic will resume at 12:01 a.m. Thursday," the statement said.

"The decision was made after a thorough analysis of the situation by the services. Public safety remains a priority," it said.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told his government that border closed ahead of the Zapad 2025 exercise would be re-opened. Polish authorities were ready close it again any moment, "if it becomes necessary, if tensions rise or we face aggressive behavior from any of our neighbors," Tusk said.

It was reported that on the eve of the Belarusian-Russian Zapad 2025 held on September 12-16 Polish authorities announced the full closure of the border with Belarus for security reasons.
