Russia's regional elections successful - Kremlin
MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax) - The elections held in Russia's regions are successful, no significant violations occurred, according to information from law enforcement agencies and the Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC), Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
"The main thing is that we are guided in this case by statements made by our law enforcement agencies, and, in particular, the CEC. Judging by these statements, no significant violations that could have influenced the election results were registered. The elections are successful," Peskov told reporters, while assessing the elections held in Russia.
Speaking about the results achieved by the heads of the regions in these elections, he said, "Many elected governors indeed have very high results, and of course, it shows continuing consolidation of society, our citizens along the line of the president and his appointees."
"Essentially, such significant results have been achieved exactly by those who received the president's support," Peskov said.
Speaking about the assessment of the work of the CEC, Peskov said the president "traditionally gives very high marks to the work of the Central Elections Commission."
"I am convinced that it will be this way this time, too," Peskov said.
