Aeroflot plans to buy 49% of Aeromar in-flight catering subsidiary from Lufthansa

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 8 (Interfax) - Aeroflot plans to buy 49% of JSC Aeromar, Russia's largest in-flight catering company, from Lufthansa group entities, the Russian airline's CEO Sergei Alexandrovsky told journalists at the Eastern Economic Forum.

"We have received approval from the government commission for a deal to acquire 49% of Aeromar. After receiving the president's approval for the deal, our stake will increase to 100% [from 51% at present]," Alexandrovsky said.

Lufthansa said in September 2022 that it is intended to sell its stake in Aeromar.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Aeromar was registered in 1995 and is located at Sheremetyevo Airport, Aeroflot's base airport. It had nearly 4,000 employees at the end of 2021. Revenue under Russian Accounting Standards rose 37% to 19.4 billion rubles in 2024 but the company swung to a net loss of 511 million rubles, from profit of 63 million rubles a year previously due, according to financial reporting, to higher cost of sales, management and commercial expenses.

An Aeroflot financial report for H1 2025 mentioned a deal to acquire 100% of shares in CJSC AeroMIL, which operates a public catering business at the airport in Krasnoyarsk, one of Aeroflot's main bases. Shares in AeroMIL were also owned by Lufthansa entities. Its revenue under Russian standards increased 52% to 380 million rubles to in 2024, while net profit rose 67% to 62.5 million rubles. Alexandrovsky said that deal cost 56.4 million rubles.
