Rosneft signs agreement with Chinese partners for additional supply of 2.5 mln tonnes of oil via Kazakhstan - Russian energy minister
MOSCOW. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Rosneft has signed an agreement with Chinese partners for the additional supply of 2.5 million tonnes of oil via Kazakhstan, Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 television channel when commenting on the results of the Russian delegation's visit to China led by President Vladimir Putin.
He recalled that agreements have been reached to increase gas supplies to China.
"Rosneft also signed an agreement with Chinese partners on an additional supply of 2.5 million tonnes of oil via Kazakhstan," he said.
In May, amendments were made to the protocol of the intergovernmental agreement with China to increase oil supplies to China by 2.5 million tonnes per year. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that this was a proposal from the Chinese side, but it would require "certain measures in the field of pipeline transportation."
Kazakhstan said that it was discussing with the Russian side whether this would require the construction of an additional compressor station or if it could be managed by adding additives.
Tsivilev also expressed hope that work under the agreements with Vietnam would begin from January 2026. This involves expanding the work of Zarubezhneft in Vietnam and PetroVietnam in Russia.
He recalled that a memorandum on extending work until 2050 was signed at a meeting of the Russian and Vietnamese leaders, Vladimir Putin and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam. The documents were signed in May this year.
"Simultaneously, a new agreement on the development of our work was signed for it. Zarubezhneft signed an agreement on additional projects in Vietnam, and mirror-wise, the Vietnamese company PetroVietnam - in Russia. We are now preparing all regulatory documents. I very much hope we will complete all the regulatory work within two months so that from January 2026 we can start this work," Tsivilev said.
In particular, the documents provide for the transfer to PetroVietnam of a 35% stake in the Kharyaga PSA by 2027 and Zarubezhneft's acquisition of a 49% stake in the future PSA for the development of blocks 01/17 and 02/17 on the Vietnamese shelf. In addition, it is proposed to extend the work of Vietsovpetro - a joint venture of these two state companies - until the end of 2050.
