Fico discusses situation in Ukraine with Putin ahead of meeting with Zelensky

PRAGUE. Sept 2 (Interfax) - The conflict in Ukraine was one of the main subjects discussed at Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing.

"President Putin told me about his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska and then we mostly discussed the conflict in Ukraine one-on-one," Fico said on a social network on Tuesday.

During this important conversation, Fico came to a number of conclusions which he intends to share with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Friday, he said.

In addition, Fico also had an opportunity to have a separate conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, he said.
