Transmashholding confirms interest in Belarusian market, ties opening of assembly to order availability
MINSK. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Transmashholding (TMH) is interested in launching assembly production in Belarus, TMH General Director Kirill Lipa said.
"We are indeed ready [to establish assembly production], and we hear requests from the leadership of Belarus to create localized enterprises. We are not against creating such enterprises. All our Russian enterprises are very heavily loaded. And there are no free capacities at all, so we are ready to localize our production in Belarus," Lipa was quoted as saying by the Belarusian state publication sb.by.
The practical possibility of starting assembly in Belarus depends on the availability of orders from key Belarusian buyers and their financial capabilities, Lipa said. "As soon as it is announced, we will immediately deploy assembly production," he said.
Assembly production could be created on the basis of a depot in Baranovichi, he said.
At the same time, Lipa emphasized the relevance of the Belarusian market. "We have always wanted to be present on it. We have already made the first deliveries for the Minsk metro. It is very important that we entered not only with rolling stock but also with intelligent systems. We are starting to supply the station control system," he said.
The publication specified that TMH has already delivered 28 cars to the Minsk Metro, with another 20 cars planned for delivery by the end of this year.
Overall, over the past five years, TMH has supplied railway equipment, spare parts and components to Belarus with a total value of over 13 billion Russian rubles.
It was previously reported that TMH was discussing the possibility of creating a joint venture for the production of electric trains in Baranovichi.
Transmashholding is the largest producer of rolling stock for rail transport in Russia. Its headquarters are located in Moscow. The holding's structure encompasses production and assembly sites in Russia and other countries around the world, with its operational geography covering 30 states.
