Croatia wants to participate in Shyghys hydrocarbon project in Kazakhstan - KazMunayGas

ASTANA. Aug 26 (Interfax) - The Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency (CHA) has expressed interest in participating in the Shyghys project in Kazakhstan, the press service of JSC National Company KazMunayGas (KMG) reported.

"Having conducted preliminary assessments, the Croatian Agency expressed interest in the Shyghys project in the Aktobe region, including the processing of historical 2D seismic data," KMG said in a statement following a meeting between CEO Askat Khasenov and CHA president Marijan Krpan in Astana.

The parties discussed the future of their partnership, including the implementation of geological exploration projects.

KMG previously proposed possible projects to the CHA and a joint working group was formed to analyze the geological potential of the sites. The parties also signed an information exchange agreement.

The Shyghys license block has an area of 2,415 square kilometers and is located in the Temir, Baiganin and Mugalzhar districts of Kazakhstan's Aktobe region.

KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan's national hydrocarbon exploration, production, processing and transportation company and represents the state's interests in the oil and gas sector.
