Trump says no clear understanding yet of future security guarantees for Ukraine

WASHINGTON. Aug 25 (Interfax) - Security guarantees Ukraine could be granted once the conflict ends have yet to be discussed in detail, U.S. President Donald Trump said.

"You don't know what security guarantee is, because we haven't even discussed the specifics of it. We'll see,"Trump told journalists at the White House on Monday.

In his view, Europe would provide Ukraine with "significant security guarantees," while the U.S. would be involved as a "back-up," Trump said.

If the conflict does get settled, the issue will not be a problem, he said.
