Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan to boost multimodal transportation on their territories - joint statement

ASHGABAT. Aug 25 (Interfax) - Ashgabat, Tashkent and Baku will boost multimodal transportation on the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan route and back, a statement issued at the end of the trilateral summit in Awaza on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea said, as quoted by the Turkmenistan State News Agency.

"Given the great potential in transport and logistics and seeking to use the transit potential of the three countries, the sides underlined the importance of boosting multimodal transportation on the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan route and back," the statement said.

It noted "the significance of the memorandum of mutual understanding on transport and logistics cooperation signed by respective agencies of the three countries."

"The sides welcome the establishment of the joint working group to discuss the development of transport and communication infrastructure, coordination of transportation, and facilitation of its terms," the statement said.

Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan also "called for intensifying practical efforts to bolster transport interconnectivity and for elaborating and implementing joint projects" and "underlined the priority of further expansion and strengthening of trade and economic cooperation," it said.
