Russia harvests over 85 mln tonnes of grain, forecast of 135 mln tonnes remains - Deputy PM Patrushev

ZHELEZNOVODSK. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Russia has so far harvested over 85 million tonnes of grain, including over 64 million tonnes of wheat, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at a meeting on agricultural issues in the North Caucasus Federal District on Friday.

"The harvesting of the new crop is now in its most active phase. To date, Russian farmers have harvested over 85 million tonnes of grain, of which over 64 million tonnes is wheat. I emphasize that this amount of grain already fully meets our domestic needs," Patrushev said.

"At the same time, the pace of harvesting as well as the yield are ahead of last year's level. All this allows us to maintain the forecasted harvest at 135 million tonnes," he said.

As reported, according to Rosstat, Russia's 2024 grain harvest amounted to 125.9 million tonnes, without accounting for the new regions. This includes 82 million tonnes of wheat. Including the new regions, the Agriculture Ministry estimates the harvest at 129.8 million tonnes.
