China resumes purchases of Russian cheese in July after 3-month break - Chinese customs data

MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax) - China purchased cheese and cottage cheese from Russia worth $30,100 in July, according to materials from China's General Administration of Customs.

This is the first purchase after a three-month break which began in April.

Russia supplied cheese and cottage cheese to China worth $253,960 in January-July 2025, compared to $922,970 a year earlier.

China purchased cheese and cottage cheese from 30 countries during this period. The largest suppliers are New Zealand ($400.1 million), Australia ($81.7 million), Italy ($45 million) and Denmark ($25.4 million).

According to the customs administration, supplies of milk and cream from Russia also decreased. They amounted to $704,400 in 7M compared to almost $725,000 a year earlier, while in July they stood at $127,100 compared to $190,600, respectively.

China purchased this product from 26 countries in January-July, most notably from New Zealand ($530.8 million) and France ($108.1 million).
