National Bank of Ukraine downgrades vegetable, fruit and berry harvest forecast by 11%, potato harvest forecast by 3%

MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - The National Bank of Ukraine has downgraded the vegetable harvest forecast for 2025 by 11.5% to 7.6 million tonnes, the fruit and berry harvest forecast by 11.1% to 1.8 million tonnes, and the potato harvest forecast by 3.4% to 19.4 million tonnes, Ukrainian media said.

"The weather was bad for the harvest in spring 2025. The spring frost hit a substantial part of the country, particularly damaging winter crops, fruit, berry and vegetables," the media said, citing an updated inflation report of the National Bank.

At the same time, the National Bank is expecting the vegetable harvest to grow 11.5% YoY, or by 0.8 million tonnes, versus a 10.7% growth in potato harvest by 1.9 million tonnes.

The fruit and berry harvest will be worse: 12.4%, or 0.2 million tonnes less than last year.

The National Bank also downgraded the vegetable harvest forecast for 2026 by 9.1% to 8.0 million tonnes, compared to the inflation report issued in April, while downgrading the fruit and berry harvest forecast by 4.0% to 1.9 million tonnes.

At the same time, the National Bank slightly upgraded the potato harvest forecast for next year, by 0.7% to 20.0 million tonnes.
