EAEU approves rules for regulating disputes around observance of technical regulations

MINSK. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved a new procedure according to which it will review appeals from members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) who wish to dispute measures taken by the state supervision authority of another member state with respect to products which do not meet the requirements of EAEU technical regulations, the EEC's press service reported.

"A procedure has been established for reviewing and regulating disputes which arise between the state supervision authorities of one member state of the Eurasian Economic Union and another member state. This will include reviewing, with the help of verified experts, the validity of administrative measures taken with the aim of complying with the union's technical regulations," the press release reads.

The EEC said that this would be a soft means of combating inappropriate law enforcement practices without initially involving courts.

The decision taken once a case is reviewed will be used to establish a unified approach towards state supervision measures to eliminate products which violate EAEU technical regulations.
