Kazakhstan to more than double aircraft fleet by 2031
ASTANA. July 23 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan plans to increase its aircraft fleet to 221 planes by the end of 2030, the Kazakh government said on its website.
Kazakhstan's current aircraft fleet contains 108 planes. As such, the government plans to more than double this number by 2031.
Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev said at a meeting on the development of the country's aviation industry that 16 new aircraft would be added to the fleet this year, six of which have already been acquired.
He also said that Kazakhstan planned to attract around $2.9 billion of investments in the industry through various investment programs. This will be used to fund major projects such as the construction of new airports in tourist areas such as Katon-Karagay, Zaysan, Kenderli and the city of Arkalyk, as well as the renovation of 10 runways, 10 terminals and the modernization of specialized ground equipment.
The government's press service said that Kazakhstan had reconstructed 20 runways and 19 terminals since 2020, as well as building a new airport in Turkistan. Kazakh airlines have carried 7.2 million passengers since the beginning of 2025, a 6% increase year-on-year.
