Peskov: We want to hope pressure is exerted on Ukraine to bring it back to talks

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - Russia is hoping that pressure is also being exerted on Ukraine in order to bring it back to talks, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are urging everyone to do so, in this case, mediation efforts of the United States, President Trump and his team, are crucial. A lot of statements have been made, and many words have been spoken about being disappointed but we want to hope that pressure is being exerted on the Ukrainian side at the same time," Peskov said. Journalists asked him whether it was possible to agree with partners on pressuring Kiev to return to the negotiating table.

"For now, it looks as if Ukraine takes every word of support not as a signal for peace, but as signal for war, for continuation of war," he said.
