Netanyahu tells Trump he nominated him for Nobel Peace Prize
WASHINGTON. July 8 (Interfax) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told journalists he nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize and handed him a copy of the nomination letter.
"I want to present to you, Mr. President, the letter I sent to the Nobel Prize Committee; it's nominating you for the Peace Prize, which is well deserved, and you should get it," Netanyahu said addressing Trump at a dinner at the White House.
Netanyahu said he believed that, with Trump's leadership, Israel could work out a peace with "the entire Middle East."
The plan would give the Palestinians "all the powers to govern themselves," while overall security must always remain in Israel's hands, Netanyahu said.
Speaking to journalists, Trump said he was surprised at his nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize.
"Coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful," Trump told the Israeli leader.
