Rosatom, SIBUR, Gazprom Neft and Tatneft to be among main contractors of New Materials and Chemistry national project

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - The main contractors in the New Materials and Chemistry national technological leadership project are to include Rosatom Group, SIBUR Holding, Gazprom Neft , Tatneft and other organizations which will be selected based on the results of contests, it follows from materials published by the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry for its final meeting.

The project was launched in 2025 with the aim of achieving technological independence in industries producing chemicals and biotechnology, new and promising materials, and rare and rare-earth metals.

The ministry said that the most important and knowledge-intensive technologies to be developed in the project would be used to create products for increasing crop yield in agriculture, for the environmentally friendly production and advanced processing of strategic and scarce minerals, to create new materials with specified properties and performance characteristics and to produce low-tonnage chemical products, including highly purified substances for use in the pharmaceutical, energy, microelectronics and biotechnology industries.

The national project plans the development of production facilities for over 700 small and medium-tonnage chemical substances, over 350 highly purified gases for radio electronics, 16 rare metals and 17 rare-earth metals. Overall, this will involve creating 55 production chains spanning from raw materials to final products.
