TMH-Electrotech to invest 2.5 bln rubles in production of asynchronous traction motors

YEKATERINBURG. July 7 (Interfax) - TMH-Electrotech LLC (Rostov region, part of Transmashholding, TMH) intends to invest 2.5 billion rubles in the production of asynchronous traction motors for subway trains and electric trains, the Rostov region's deputy governor Igor Sorokin told Interfax.

The corresponding agreements were signed during the Innoprom-2025 international industrial exhibition.

"The agreement concerns TMH-Electrotech LLC's investment project to establish production of electrical machines. The plan is to launch production of up to 2,700 asynchronous traction motors per year," Sorokin said.

Sorokin told Interfax in November 2024 that TMH-Electrotech had begun producing four new types of asynchronous traction motors for electric trains, shunting diesel locomotives, electric locomotives and subway cars for the first time. These include the DTA-380U1 traction asynchronous motors for the Ivolga 3.0 and Ivolga 4.0 electric trains, DTA-170 motors for the Moscow-2020, Moscow-2024, and Baltiets subway cars, DTA-200T motors for TEM23 diesel locomotives and DTA-125 motors for EMKA2 shunting electric locomotives. Motors of these types had not previously been produced in Russia.

TMH-Electrotech was founded in 2018 on the basis of the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NELP, part of TMH). It specializes in producing electrical equipment. NELP is Russia's largest manufacturer of mainline and industrial electric locomotives, with the majority of its products manufactured for Russian Railways (RZD).

Transmashholding is Russia's largest manufacturer of rolling stock for rail transport.
