Ukraine's industrial production drops 6.4% in April 2025 YoY - statistics

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Industrial production in Ukraine declined 6.4% year-on-year in April 2025, having fallen by 6.4% in March, by 8.8% in February, and by 4.8% in January, Ukrainian media said, citing data from the State Statistics Service.

Industrial production dropped 2% month-on-month in April 2025, the service said.

Specifically, production went down by 17.5% year-on-year in mining and quarrying and by 4.5% in the processing industry, but grew by 6.9% in electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air supply.

The biggest declines in April 2025 were recorded in black and brown coal mining, which saw a 43.1% decrease, in mineral extraction and quarrying (-32.9%), production of coke and petrochemicals (-20.2%), production of food, drinks and tobacco (-9.7%), wood processing (-7.7%), chemical production (-7.4%), and machine building (-2.9%).

Meanwhile, production of computers, electronics and optical products grew by 39.4%, alongside an increase of 16.8% in the pharmaceutical sector, of 7.6% in metallurgy and production of metal goods, and of 5.8% in motor vehicle manufacturing.

Ukraine's industrial production fell 6.1% year-on-year in January-April 2025, with the largest declines reported in mining and quarrying (-15.6%), electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air supply (-3.6%), and the processing sector (-2.6%).

In April 2025, industrial production in Ukraine, when adjusted for calendar effects, fell by 32.6%, and by 31.4%, when adjusted for seasonal factors.

As previously reported, industrial production in Ukraine, according to updated information, grew by 4.6% in 2024.
