Peace through strength principle cannot be applied to Russia - Kremlin

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The Kremlin sees no reasons to draw parallels between the settlement of the Iranian-Israeli conflict and the situation in and around Ukraine and believes that the peace through strength approach cannot be applied to Russia, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"It's hardly appropriate to draw parallels here. And besides, after all, the peace through strength principle can hardly be applied to Russia and can hardly be used. It's impossible to achieve any goals this way," Peskov said on Thursday, when asked by journalists to comment on U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff's remark that the situation surrounding Iran should help settle the Ukraine conflict.

"We're interested in seeing our American partners continue their efforts toward facilitating negotiations [between Russia and Ukraine]," Peskov said.

As for the Russian-Ukrainian and the Iranian-Israeli conflicts, Moscow believes "these conflicts are incomparable in their essence and nature," Peskov said.
