Russian attitudes towards U.S. improve - better

MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - Nearly one in five Russians (18%) currently has a favorable view of the United States, whereas in 2015 such a view was held by only one-tenth (10%), according to the findings of a Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) poll).

Since then the proportion of respondents with negative attitudes towards the U.S. has dropped from 38% to 31%, the findings, published on the FOM website on Tuesday, said.

The number of respondents indifferent towards the U.S. is down from 46% to 40%, FOM said.

The remaining 11% could not answer the question, it said.

As for expectations about the state of Russia-U.S. relations in the near future, nearly one in three (31%) sees reason for improvement, 7% said the relations are deteriorating and more than a third (39%) are not expecting any change; 23% had no opinion about it.

The poll was conducted among 1,500 respondents aged 18+ in 97 towns and cities across 51 Russian regions on June 6-8, 2025.
