All fish, seafood harvested in Black Sea consistent with safety norms - Russia's chief public health official
MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) is working with the Agriculture Ministry and the Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo) to monitor each batch of fish and seafood caught in the Black Sea, Rospotrebnadzor head Anna Popova said in an interview with Interfax, adding that all the fish and seafood meet safety requirements.
"From the onset of interaction with the Agriculture Ministry and Rosrybolovstvo, we established control over each batch of fish and seafood harvested in this region. We are checking the entire haul for the presence of not only oil products but also substances showing that unhealthy or dead fish got caught in the net," Popova said.
"The overall sum of all indicators that we determine both in fish and seafood allows us to say that everything that is being harvested [in the Black Sea] today is consistent with the requirements, there are no problems," she said.
