Pashinyan invites Erdogan to visit Armenia in spring 2026

YEREVAN. June 23 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Yerevan in 2026.

"I intend to invite the Turkish president to visit Armenia to take part in a European Political Community summit in spring next year," Pashinyan said at a meeting with Armenian community members in Istanbul.

Yerevan will host the summit, and Turkey will be among the countries facilitating its organization as a member of this format, Pashinyan said.

"The exact dates have yet to be set. I hope my next meeting [with the Turkish president] will be in Yerevan next year," Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan said in May 2025 that Armenia would host the 8th summit of the European Political Community in spring 2026.

President of the European Council Antonio Costa said on his social account earlier that the European Political Community was to hold its summits in Armenia and Ireland in 2026, in Switzerland and Greece in 2027, in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2028 and in Latvia in the second half of 2028.
