Kremlin not expecting fast results in Russia-U.S. relations

MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - There are many outstanding problems in Russian-U.S. relations but the dialogue has been resumed and will continue, although no fast results should be expected, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"There are lots of outstanding issues in bilateral relations. One can hardly expect any prompt results," Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"However, the complicated phased work has begun and will continue," he said.

Peskov thus commented on reports on the upcoming round of Russia-U.S. negotiations aimed to eliminate irritants in bilateral relations.

As to who will be presenting the presidential administration at the talks, Peskov said, "These consultations will be conducted at the level of foreign ministries, so you should better ask our foreign ministry for comment."

He was also asked whether the Russia-U.S. dialogue was faltering because of the Ukraine problem.

"No, the dialogue goes on, and the foreign ministries are doing it consistent with the understandings reached by President Putin and President Trump," he said.
