Putin-Trump call constructive, necessary, many important issues discussed - Kremlin

MOSCOW. June 5 (Interfax) - The phone call Russian President Vladimir Putin had with U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday was constructive and necessary, and many important issues were discussed, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"On the whole, indeed, the call was constructive and necessary, and the presidents actually discussed numerous substantive and important issues," Peskov told reporters.

Putin and Trump did not agree to meet in person during their phone call, yet the sides understand the need for such a meeting if it is properly prepared, Peskov said.

"There is no agreement on a meeting, however, the heads of state share an understanding that such a meeting is necessary, if it is properly prepared and the preparations bring weighty results so that the results are formalized at the summit level," Peskov told journalists.

Putin and Trump did not discuss either easing or tightening of anti-Russian sanctions in their phone call on Wednesday, Peskov said.

"No, the issue of sanctions was not touched upon," Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
