EEC Council approves doubling of duty-free potato import quota to Russia up to 300,000 tonnes - commission
MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved a doubling of Russia's duty-free potato import quota from the current 150,000 tonnes to 300,000 tonnes, the commission's trade division said.
The measure will remain in effect until July 31, 2025.
The EEC Council also decided to introduce a tariff exemption for duty-free potato imports to Kazakhstan of up to 150,000 tonnes until June 30, 2025, with the condition that the potatoes be sold at retail.
"The adopted customs tariff regulation measure is aimed at stabilizing potato prices in Kazakhstan and Russia," the trade division quoted EEC Trade Minister Andrei Slepnev as saying.
