Kantor again elected European Jewish Congress president
JERUSALEM. May 21 (Interfax) - Businessman and public figure Vyacheslav Kantor has been elected president of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) for the fifth time, the EJC press service told reporters.
"Delegates of more than 40 representative Jewish organizations from the entire continent elected Vyacheslav Moshe Kantor president by almost two-thirds of the votes at the EJC General Assembly, held in Jerusalem today," the EJC said.
During his tenure as EJC president in 2007-2022, Kantor "gave priority attention to the fight against anti-Semitism in Europe, implementation of projects to perpetuate the memory of the Holocaust and to ensure the security of the Jewish community," the press service said. Kantor promised "to expand this work" in this period the press service said.
