Belarus's GDP growth slows to 2.8% in Jan-April
MINSK. May 19 (Interfax) - Belarus' GDP stood at 81.4 billion Belarusian rubles in January-April 2025, increasing 2.8% in comparable prices compared to the same period last year, the Belarusian National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.
In January-March, as in January-February, GDP growth stood at 3.1%, while in January it was 3.7%.
The GDP deflator index for January-April reached 106.6%.
According to the Belarusian authorities' target forecast, the country's GDP should grow at least 4.1% in 2025, with inflation declining to 5%.
The EDB expects Belarus's economic growth to slow to 2.6% this year, the EBRD forecasts 2.5%, the International Monetary Fund projects the country's GDP to increase 2.8%, the World Bank 2.2% and the UN 3.5%.
The country's GDP grew 4% in 2024 following a 3.9% increase in 2023 and a 4.7% decline in 2022.
The official exchange rate on May 19 is 3.0134 Belarusian rubles/$1.
