Russia is ready to increase coal supplies to Malaysia, countries discussing more cooperation in sector - Russian Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to increase coal supplies to Malaysia, the Russian Energy Ministry said on Telegram channel following Russian-Malaysian talks in Kazan.

The parties said there was mutual interest in stepping up cooperation in the coal sector.

Russia supplies significant volumes of coal to Malaysia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said following talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday.

Russian coal production totaled 443.5 million tonnes in 2024, with 196.2 tonnes exported, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in his column for the Energy Policy magazine. Information about coal supplies it to individual countries is not disclosed, but China and India are among the main export destinations.
