Russia, China to deepen cooperation to strengthen global strategic stability - statement

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Russia and China have declared their determination to deepen cooperation toward maintaining and strengthening global strategic stability and opposing common threats.

"The two Sides intend to continue in the most active manner to enhance the coordination of their approaches and to deepen the practical cooperation on maintaining and strengthening global strategic stability, as well as to jointly address common challenges and threats in this sphere," Russia and China said in a joint statement on global strategic stability, which is published on the Kremlin website.

Moscow and Beijing are confident that progress on this path would significantly improve international security and strongly stimulate the creation of a climate favorable for further advancing on the arms control and disarmament tracks through maintaining global strategic stability and adhering to the principle of undiminished security for all, the statement says.

"The two Sides also note the need for further cooperation on the issues of military application of artificial intelligence technologies both in bilateral format and at specialized multilateral venues, primarily in the framework of the Group of Governmental Experts of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems," it says.
