Ukraine plans to apply for OECD membership

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Ukraine plans to file an application to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in early 2026, Ukrainian media quoted Prime Minister Denis Shmygal as saying at a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, who has arrived in Kiev for presenting the OECD's Economic Survey and Integrity and Anti-Corruption Review of Ukraine.

"We've spoken of the need for doing a homework to be able to announce a political decision," Shmygal said at the presentation.

He also asked the OECD to explore options for moving Ukraine from risk group 7 to 6, which would be important for investments and work with international financial institutions.
