Tajikistan, World Bank to develop partnership strategy through 2031
DUSHANBE. April 23 (Interfax) - Tajikistan and the World Bank have agreed to develop a new partnership strategy for 2026-2030, the Tajik Finance Ministry's press service said.
The discussion took place during a meeting between Tajik officials and World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington.
"The strategy will be grounded in comprehensive analysis of opportunities and priorities, including job creation, human capital development, the digitalisation of the economy and climate resilience," the press service said.
The parties reviewed ongoing project implementation and explored enhanced cooperation in economic reforms, public finance management, sustainable financing, the digital economy and energy sector development.
The meeting also addressed implementation of policy reforms to improve Tajikistan's investment climate, strengthen fiscal management efficiency and reinforce macroeconomic tools.
"Bassani reaffirmed the World Bank's commitment to supporting Tajikistan's government, facilitating regional integration and developing new platforms for economic cooperation," the press service said.
Tajikistan joined the World Bank in 1993. The previous World Bank-Tajikistan partnership strategy covered 2019-2023.
