Alrosa, Sakhatransneftegaz joint venture to complete seismic surveys of oil and gas blocks in Yakutia by autumn
YAKUTSK. April 21 (Interfax) - The results of seismic surveys at the Ulugursky and Ergedzheysky hydrocarbon deposits in Yakutia will be ready by September this year, Alrosa said in a press release.
The development of these two oil and gas blocks is being carried out as part of a joint venture with Sakhatransneftegaz.
"As of today, field seismic surveys of 300 linear kilometers have already been conducted at each site. Reports on the results of the seismic work will be ready in August-September this year," Alrosa said.
The decision to begin exploratory drilling at the blocks will be made after the reports are prepared. It is planned that the exploration stage and registration of reserves on the state balance sheet will be completed by the end of 2027.
"Alrosa is consistently pursuing a policy of increasing hydrocarbon reserves to meet the growing demand in the region," CEO of Alrosa-Gas Andrei Tsyganov was quoted as saying.
The agreement on the joint development of the fields within the JV between Alrosa and Sakhatransneftegaz was signed at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum in the summer of 2024.
The Ulugursky license block is located in the Lensky and Suntarsky districts. It covers an area of 4,205 square kilometers, with D2 forecast resources of 7.3 million tonnes of oil and 217.3 billion cubic meters of gas.
The Ergedzheysky license block is located in the Olekminsky and Suntarsky districts. The area of the block is 3,181 square kilometers, with forecasted D2 resources of 15 million tonnes of oil and 78.3 billion cubic meters of gas.
JSC Sakhatransneftegaz was established in 2003 to manage the main gas pipeline from the Sredne-Vilyuyskoye gas condensate field to Yakutsk. The company also produces gas at the Srednetyungskoye and Otradninskoye fields, operates 7,676 kilometers of pipelines, and supplies natural gas to around 100 settlements in Yakutia.
