Alrosa to fund exploration for polymetallic deposits in Yakutia, might seek partner - CEO

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russian diamond miner Alrosa has discovered "good" manifestations of polymetallic ores in the course of diamond exploration in Yakutia and plans to book them, the company's CEO, Pavel Marinychev said at the Khozaktiv-2025 corporate forum on Thursday.

He said the diversification of Alrosa's business is not limited to gold.

"We saw good signs of polymetallic ores at our licensed properties in the Mirninsky and neighboring districts, where we explore for diamonds. We've decided to allocate additional financing in order to, along with diamonds, study what kind of polymetallic ores these are. Try to book them in order to increase our value on the market," Marinychev said.

Alrosa might conduct associated mining of polymetallic ores independently or bring in "someone as partners," he said.

Alrosa, which mines diamonds in single-industry towns in Yakutia, adopted a diversification strategy last year to reduce the impact that crises in the diamond industry have on the company.
