Russia doubles buckwheat exports to 110,000 tonnes in Q1 - Agroexport
MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Russia's buckwheat exports doubled year-on-year to 110,000 tonnes in the first quarter of 2025, the Agroexport federal center reported, citing preliminary estimations by experts.
China remained the biggest importer, purchasing 96% of Russian buckwheat exports. Turkey imported 1% and Iran approximately 1%.
Agroexport said that Turkey had imported more Russian buckwheat than in the previous year, while Iraq purchased Russian buckwheat for the first time.
The center told Interfax that Turkey purchased a record 1,200 tonnes of buckwheat.
Rosstat reported that Russia had decreased the buckwheat harvest from 1.475 million to 1.208 million tonnes in 2024.
