Russia increases exports of live farm animals 22% in 2024 - Agroexport
MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - Russia increased exports of live farm animals 22% in 2024, setting a historic record, the Agroexport federal center said, citing preliminary expert data.
Exports exceeded 83,000 tonnes in live weight.
The top three importers included Georgia, which accounted for 34% of shipments, Kazakhstan (21%) and Azerbaijan (18%).
A total of 259,660 live pigs were exported last year, the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergei Dankvert said at a press conference in late March. Georgia increased its imports to 183,000 head from 157,000 in 2023 and 100,000 in 2022.
