Loading of Kazakh oil into Caspian Pipeline Consortium system proceeding as usual - Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry

ASTANA. April 1 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is loading its oil into the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system as usual, the country's Energy Ministry said.

"There are currently no restrictions on receiving Kazakh oil into the Caspian Pipeline Consortium system. Shipments are being carried out as usual according to the schedule via the SPM-3 [single point mooring] that is in operation," the ministry said.

The ministry is monitoring the issue and is "in constant interaction with all parties involved to ensure uninterrupted transportation of Kazakh oil for export."

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium has taken two single-point moorings, SPM-1 and SPM-2, out of service following an inspection by supervisory authorities until flaws that were identified are rectified, the company's press service said.

All loading at the consortium's Marine Terminal will be carried out from SPM-3, which was put into operation in 2014, it said.

The CPC connects the oil fields of western Kazakhstan and Russia on the Caspian shelf to a marine terminal in Novorossiysk. The route spans 1,511 km. The system is the main export route for Kazakh oil, accounting for more than 80% of the volumes pumped through the pipeline from Kazakhstan. Currently, the CPC is capable of transporting around 72.5 million tonnes of oil annually from Kazakhstan and up to 83 million tonnes per year through Russia. In 2024, the consortium transported 63.01 million tonnes of oil through the system, almost 55 million tonnes of which were from Kazakhstan.

The shareholders of CPC besides Transneft and Russia include Kazakhstan (represented by KazMunayGas - 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC - 1.75%) - 20.75%, Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company - 15%, Lukoil International GmbH - 12.5%, Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company - 7.5%, Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited - 7.5%, BG Overseas Holding Limited - 2%, Eni International N.A. N.V. - 2%, and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC - 1.75%.
