Ukrainian Railways to receive 50 mln euros from EIB to fund border crossings' upgrade
MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) will receive the final tranche of 50 million euros from a 150-million-euro loan approved by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in 2016 to help modernize Ukraine's railroads, and will use it to finance joint projects with the European Union under the 2022 Connecting Europe Facility program, Ukrainian media outlets cited the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development as saying on social media.
"The projects focus on developing border infrastructure and modernizing railroad border crossings, including Yagodin-Dorohusk (on the border with Poland), Mostiska 1 and 2-Medyka (on the border with Poland), Chop-Cierna nad Tisou/Zahony (on the border with Slovakia and Hungary), and Vadul Siret-Dornesti (on the border with Romania)," the ministry said.
Ukrainian Railways received the first tranche of 100 million euros under this program in 2022, it said.
