Russian federal budget executed with deficit of 3.8 trln rubles in Jan-Feb - Treasury
MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The Russian federal budget was executed with a deficit of 3.841 trillion rubles in January-February 2025, according to data published on the Federal Treasury's website.
Previously, the Finance Ministry preliminarily estimated the budget deficit for this period at 2.701 trillion rubles.
According to Treasury data, budget revenues for January-February 2025 amounted to 3.923 trillion rubles (the Finance Ministry's estimate was 5.344 trillion rubles), while expenditures totaled 7.764 trillion rubles (8.045 trillion rubles).
The discrepancy between the Treasury and the Finance Ministry's budget execution data occurred primarily due to 1.421 trillion rubles less in revenues reported by the Treasury. When providing preliminary budget execution estimates, the Finance Ministry said that revenues were reported including payments received on the unified tax account allocated to corresponding federal budget revenues as of March 1. Since the last business day of the month and tax payment deadline was Friday, February 28, not all budget payments could be credited by that date and were consequently recorded in the following month.
The Treasury previously reported that the federal budget had a 721 billion ruble deficit in January. The budget deficit in February thus amounted to 3.202 trillion rubles.
